cap-and-trade bill

Say, have you heard that Michael Jackson died Thursday? Yeah, I think I might have caught that somewhere too.

Did you know the House of Representatives voted to pass the new cap-and-trade legislation on Friday? If you are like hundreds of millions of other Americans (and much of the media, apparently), you haven't heard about it. For a bill that some have called the most widespread, comprehensive, SOCIALISTIC bill that has passed the house in a quarter century, it has gotten precious little media attention.

Members of the house got the 1400 page bill late Thursday evening. The vote was scheduled for Friday. Ever try to read 1400 pages in 12 hours?

But of course, details little matter when you are in the process of completely destroying the American econonmy, I guess.

Thankfully, this bill still has to be passed in the Senate, and that will be a great battle. Hold out hope that it won't live.

But here's the truth... this bill 1) will not lower carbon emissions at all 2)will raise the power bills for American families and businesses 3)will further handicap American business as they attempt to compete with Chinese and Indian businesses, who laugh at things like "protecting the environment" 4) will put in motion countless additional layers of government beauracracy, red tape, and expenses 5) will, in effect, be a tax increase for all Americans, even if you make less that $250,000. (Obama campaigned on merely taking money from the rich. Guess what? He wants yours too.)

Chances are, if you voted for Barack Obama and still think he is the messiah, this will mean little to you. He's got all the answers and will make everything all right, right? If this is you, you can go back to watching news coverage of the Michael Jackson vigil. Little things like democracy, laws, and politics can be SOOOO boring, huh?

The revolution will not be teleprompted.

Cap and Trade Voting Results Are In!

See how your representative voted and then
call or write to them and tell them strongly how
you feel about their vote. If they voted against,
thank them. If they voted for, tell them you'll
actively work against them when they're up for
re-election.

There is no Global Warming - Face the Facts

Proved: There is No Climate Crisis
Written by Robert Ferguson
Tuesday, 15 July 2008

WASHINGTON (7-15-08) - Mathematical proof that there is no “climate crisis” appears today in a major, peer-reviewed paper in Physics and Society, a learned journal of the 4,600-strong American Physical Society, SPPI reports.

Christopher Monckton, who once advised Margaret Thatcher, demonstrates via 30 equations that computer models used by the UN’s climate panel (IPCC) were pre-programmed with overstated values for the three variables whose product is “climate sensitivity” (temperature increase in response to greenhouse-gas increase), resulting in a 500-2000% overstatement of CO2’s effect on temperature in the IPCC’s latest climate assessment report, published in 2007.

Climate Sensitivity Reconsidered

[http://www.aps.org/units/fps/newsletters/200807/index.cfm]

demonstrates that later this century a doubling of the concentration of CO2 compared with pre-industrial levels will increase global mean surface temperature not by the 6 °F predicted by the IPCC but, harmlessly, by little more than 1 °F. Lord Monckton concludes –

“… Perhaps real-world climate sensitivity is very much below the IPCC’s estimates. Perhaps, therefore, there is no ‘climate crisis’ at all. … The correct policy approach to a non-problem is to have the courage to do nothing.”
Larry Gould, Professor of Physics at the University of Hartford and Chair (2004) of the New England Section of the American Physical Society (APS), has been studying climate-change science for four years. He said:

“I was impressed by an hour-long academic lecture which criticized claims about ‘global warming’ and explained the implications of the physics of radiative transfer for climate change. I was pleased that the audience responded to the informative presentation with a prolonged, standing ovation. That is what happened when, at the invitation of the President of our University, Christopher Monckton lectured here in Hartford this spring. I am delighted that Physics and Society, an APS journal, has published his detailed paper refining and reporting his important and revealing results.‘

“To me the value of this paper lies in its dispassionate but ruthlessly clear exposition – or, rather, exposé – of the IPCC’s method of evaluating climate sensitivity. The detailed arguments in this paper, and, indeed, in a large number of other scientific papers, point up extensive errors, including numerous projection errors of climate models, as well as misleading statements by the IPCC. Consequently, there are no rational grounds for believing either the IPCC or any other claims of dangerous anthropogenic ‘global warming’.”

Lord Monckton’s paper reveals that –

* The IPCC’s 2007 climate summary overstated CO2’s impact on temperature by 500-2000%;
* CO2 enrichment will add little more than 1 °F (0.6 °C) to global mean surface temperature by 2100;
* Not one of the three key variables whose product is climate sensitivity can be measured directly;
* The IPCC’s values for these key variables are taken from only four published papers, not 2,500;
* The IPCC’s values for each of the three variables, and hence for climate sensitivity, are overstated;
* “Global warming” halted ten years ago, and surface temperature has been falling for seven years;
* Not one of the computer models relied upon by the IPCC predicted so long and rapid a cooling;
* The IPCC inserted a table into the scientists’ draft, overstating the effect of ice-melt by 1000%;
* It was proved 50 years ago that predicting climate more than two weeks ahead is impossible;
* Mars, Jupiter, Neptune’s largest moon, and Pluto warmed at the same time as Earth warmed;
* In the past 70 years the Sun was more active than at almost any other time in the past 11,400 years.

Chalk one up for the good guys!

Read below pic before making judgment on 'The Finger' gesture and you'll understand...

Leading the fight is Gunnery Sgt Michael Burghardt, known as 'Iron Mike' or just 'Gunny'. He is on his third tour in Iraq . He had become a legend in the bomb disposal world after winning the Bronze Star for disabling 64 IEDs and destroying 1,548 pieces of ordnance during his second tour.

Then, on September 19, he got blown up. He had arrived at a chaotic scene after a bomb had killed four US soldiers. He chose not to wear the bulky bomb protection suit. 'You can't react to any sniper fire and you get tunnel-vision,' he explains. So, protected by just a helmet and standard-issue flak jacket, he began what bomb disposal officers term 'the longest walk', stepping gingerly into a 5 foot deep and 8 foot wide crater.

The earth shifted slightly and he saw a Senao base station with a wire leading from it. He cut the wire and used his 7 inch knife to probe the ground. 'I found a piece of red detonating cord between my legs,' he says. 'That's when I knew I was screwed.' Realizing he had been sucked into a trap, Sgt Burghardt, 35, yelled at everyone to stay back. At that moment, an insurgent, probably watching through binoculars, pressed a button on his mobile phone to detonate the secondary device below the sergeant's feet 'A chill went up the back of my neck and then the bomb exploded,' he recalls. 'As I was in the air I remember thinking, 'I don't believe they got me.' I was just ticked off they were able to do it. Then I was lying on the road, not able to feel anything from the waist down.'

His colleagues cut off his trousers to see how badly he was hurt. None could believe his legs were still there 'My dad's a Vietnam vet who's paralyzed from the waist down,' says Sgt Burghardt. 'I was lying there thinking I didn't want to be in a wheelchair next to my dad and for him to see me like that. They started to cut away my pants and I felt a real sharp pain and blood trickling down. Then I wiggled my toes and I thought, 'Good, I'm in business.' As a stretcher was brought over, adrenaline and anger kicked in. 'I decided to walk to the helicopter. I wasn't going to let my team-mates see me being carried away on a stretcher.' He stood and gave the insurgents who had blown him up a one-fingered salute. 'I flipped them one. It was like, 'OK, I lost that round but I'll be back next week'.'

Copies of a photograph depicting his defiance, taken by Jeff Bundy for the Omaha World-Herald, adorn the walls of homes across America and that of Col John Gronski, the brigade commander in Ramadi, who has hailed the image as an exemplar of the warrior spirit.

Sgt Burghardt's injuries - burns and wounds to his legs and buttocks - kept him off duty for nearly a month and could have earned him a ticket home. But, like his father - who was awarded a Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts for being wounded in action in Vietnam - he stayed in Ramadi to engage in the battle against insurgents who are forever coming up with more ingenious ways of killing Americans.

Where does a trillion dollars trickle off to?

Would you believe it. Why do we as American continue to trust and allow our hard earned money to just disappear at the whim of the looters in Washington?

The Failure of the Stimulus - Obamanomics

By: Dick Morris & Eileen McGann

The data is in for April. Obamanomics is failing terribly. Here's what happened:

1. Household personal income (inflation adjusted) rose, but every penny — and then some — went into savings or paying down debts. Consumer spending, on which Obama is betting to stimulate the economy, actually fell. None of the stimulus money was sent. None.

2. Meanwhile, to pay for this stimulus spending that didn't stimulate, Obama had to borrow so much money that long-term interest rates have almost doubled since he took office, forcing postponement of business expansion and hiring across the board.

What a record!

In April, personal household, inflation-adjusted income rose by $122 billion. Of that increase, one-third or $44 billion, came from the government's stimulus program. But while personal income was rising, household savings (which includes paying down credit card balances, mortgages, student loans, car loans, etc) rose by $132 billion — $10 billion more than the rise in income. So personal consumption dropped 0.1 percent.

The stimulus package was a total and complete failure.

As predicted, as happened with Bush's 2008 tax cut, as happened with the Japanese stimulus packages of the 90s, fearful consumers sat on their money and wouldn't spend it. Keynesian economics didn't work. Again.

But the debt sure piled up.

The deficit quadrupled and is sending interest rates soaring as the government elbows aside businesses and consumers at the loan window, all in a desperate effort to borrow enough money to spend enough money to stimulate the economy, which isn't happening.

As we describe in our new book (out June 23rd) "Catastrophe," Keynesian economics doesn't work. The theory for rational expectations has taken its place. Consumers are not idiots. They know that when their paycheck is fatter, either because of tax cuts or government spending, that it is not the beginning of nirvana but just a short-term, one-shot respite from hard times. They know the difference between standing in front on an electric fan and experiencing a windy day.

Barack Obama has fatally undermined our currency, our solvency, our financial stability, and, ultimately, our economy all to spend money that has had no economic effect!

Is Obama a failure? Not by his lights.

His goal was never to stimulate the economy. His goal was to expand government spending and he used the recession as an excuse to do so. And, by this standard, he is a raging success. With the stimulus spending, the government proportion of GDP will rise from about 35 percent to about 40 percent and with healthcare "reform," it will go soaring into the mid-40s, bringing us to parity with Germany en route to France!

But the results are in: None of Obama's spending is doing anything to help the economy.

Of course, the process of household savings, designed to pay down debt, is very healthy.

Economists call it de-leveraging. By the start of the recession, the debt American households owe had risen from 70 percent of their annual income in 1995 to 140 percent (excluding mortgages). Now it is on its way back down again. And, eventually, that will lead to a real recovery — if Obama doesn't wreck the currency and bring on mega-inflation before then (but he probably will).

One Day....Atlas Shrugged

Pamela "Atlas" Geller began her publishing career at The New York

Daily News and subsequently took over operation of The New York

Observer as Associate Publisher. She left The Observer after the

birth of her fourth child but remained involved in various projects

including American Associates, Ben Gurion University and being Senior

Vice-President Strategic Planning and Performance Evaluation at The

Brandeis School.

By Pam Geller: I am a student of history. Professionally, I have written 15

books in six languages, and have studied history all my life. I think there is

something monumentally large afoot, and I do not believe it is just a

banking crisis, or a mortgage crisis, or a credit crisis. Yes, these

exist but they are merely single facets on a very large gemstone that is only

now coming into a sharper focus.

Something of historic proportions is happening. I can sense it

because I know how it feels, smells, what it looks like, and how people

react to it. Yes, a perfect storm may be brewing, but there is

something happening within our country that has been evolving for about 10 - 15

years. The pace has dramatically quickened in the past two.

We have spent two or more decades intentionally de-industrializing

our economy.

Why?

We have intentionally dumbed down our schools, ignored our

history, and no longer teach our founding documents, why we are exceptional, and

why we are worth preserving. Students by and large cannot write, think

critically, read, or articulate. Parents are not revolting, teachers

are not picketing, school boards continue to back mediocrity. Why?

We have now established the precedent of protesting every close

election (now violently in California over a proposition that is so

controversial that it wants marriage to remain between one man and one

woman. Did you ever think such a thing possible just a decade ago?).

We have corrupted our sacred political process by allowing unelected

judges to write laws that radically change our way of life, and then mainstream

Marxist groups like ACORN and others to turn our voting system into a

banana republic.

To what purpose?

Now our mortgage industry is collapsing, housing prices are in

free fall, major industries are failing, our banking system is on the verge

of collapse, Social Security is nearly bankrupt, as is Medicare and our

entire government. Our education system is worse than a joke (I teach college

and know precisely what I am talking about.) The list is staggering in

its length, breadth, and depth. It is potentially 1929 x 10. And we are

at war with an enemy we cannot name for fear of offending people of the same

religion who cannot wait to slit the throats of your children if they

have the opportunity to do so.

And now we have elected a man no one knows anything about, who

has never run so much as a Dairy Queen, let alone a town as big as Wasilla

Alaska . All of his associations and alliances are with real radicals

in their chosen fields of employment, and everything we learn about him,

drip by drip, is unsettling if not downright scary (Surely you have heard

him speak about his idea to create and fund a mandatory civilian defense

force stronger than our military for use inside our borders? No? Oh, of

course. The media would never play that for you over and over and then demand

he answer it. Sarah Palin's pregnant daughter and $150,000 wardrobe is

more important.)

I have never been so afraid for my country and for my children as

I am now. This man campaigned on bringing people together, something he has

never, ever done in his professional life. In my assessment, Obama

will divide us along philosophical lines, push us apart, and then try to

realign the pieces into a new and different power structure. Change is indeed

coming. And when it comes, you will never see the same nation again.

I thought I would never be able to experience what the ordinary,

moral German felt in the mid-1930s. In those times, the savior was a former

smooth-talking rabble-rouser from the streets, about whom the average

German knew next to nothing.. What they did know was that he was associated

with groups that shouted, shoved, and pushed around people with whom they

disagreed; he edged his way onto the political stage through great

oratory and promises.. Economic times were tough, people were losing jobs, and

he was a great speaker. And he smiled and waved a lot. And people, even

newspapers, were afraid to speak out for fear that his "brown shirts"

would bully them into submission.

And then he was duly elected to office, with a full-throttled

economic crisis at hand [the Great Depression]. Slowly but surely he seized the

controls of government power, department by department, person by

person, bureaucracy by bureaucracy. The kids joined a Youth Movement in his

name, where they were taught what to think. How did he get the people on his

side? He did it promising jobs to the jobless, money to the moneyless,

and goodies for the military-industrial complex. He did it by

indoctrinating the children, advocating gun control, health care for all, better

wages, better jobs, and promising to re-instill pride once again in the

country, across Europe , and across the world.

He did it with a compliant media - Did you know that? And he did

this all in the name of justice and .. . .. change. And the people surely

got what they voted for. (Look it up if you think I am exaggerating.)

Read your history books. Many people objected in 1933 and were shouted

down, called names, laughed at, and made fun of. When Winston Churchill

pointed out the obvious in the late 1930s while seated in the House of Lords in

England (he was not yet Pr ime Minister), he was booed into his seat

and called a crazy troublemaker.

He was right, though .

Don't forget that Germany was the most educated, cultured country

in Europe . It was full of music, art, museums, hospitals, laboratories,

and universities. And in less than six years - a shorter time span than

just two terms of the U. S. presidency - it was rounding up its own

citizens, killing others, abrogating its laws, turning children against parents,

and neighbors against neighbors. All with the best of intentions, of

course. The road to Hell is paved with them.

not too distant future, I thought you might be interested in this

information.

IN GOD WE TRUST

Most of you know by now that the Senate version

at least) of the "stimulus" bill includes provisions for extensive rationing of health care

for senior citizens. The author of this part of the bill, former senator and tax evader,

Tom Daschle was credited today by Bloomberg with the following statement.

Bloomberg: "Daschle says health-care reform "will not be pain free." Seniors should be more

accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them."

If this does not sufficiently raise your ire, just remember that Senators and Congressmen

have their own healthcare plan that is first dollar or very low co-pay which they are guaranteed the

remainder of their lives and are not subject to this new law if it passes.

Please use the power of the internet to get this message out. Talk it up at the grassroots level.

We have an election coming up in one year and nine months. We have the ability to address

and reverse the dangerous direction the Obama administration and it allies have

begun and in the interim, we can make our voices heard! Lets do it!

If you disagree, don't do anything.
